so does anyone know how many points you need too actually have a chance at drawing the henry's mtn. archery tag in Utah,

I've been looking and I see that there are only 10 archery tags there, is that right, 9 residents and 1 non-resident were drawn in 2013, I see there were 1 in 560 chance of drawing, as a non-resident, but does not show how many points you need? I have 0 this year, can I still buy a point for next year?
Matt

Since there's only one tag it does not go to the non-resident with the most points, it goes in the random drawing. Everybody has a chance at it but there will be people applying for that tag with more than 15 points.

If a second one goes to non residents it will go to the highest point holder and in all reality, it's pretty much a statistical impossibility to draw in the non random drawing anytime in your lifetime if you have less than 10 or 12 points right now.

You could always just buy your way to the front of the line. There's some fellas over in Salt Lake City that I'm sure would be happy to, hook you up.;)

The only chance is if those ahead of you pass away or lose interest. Good luck with that!

A few years ago a customer of mine ( I'm a taxidermist) drew the only non-resident muzzleloader tag with zero points. He just started hunting and this was only his 2nd deer tag ever. His first deer tag was also in UT for the Book Cliffs muzzy tag, and he drew it with zero points.
What luck ! ...2 for 2 with zero points. What an introduction to hunting.

henry mts archery is a luck tag at best,,,too late to buy points this year,,,personally id look into lesser units that are easyer to draw as limited, but also put in for utahs general deer tag too...never know if youll get lucky.I drew a gen muzz deer as my 3rd choice this year in utah.and its only $268 plus $65

Similar situation for my wife's ex-business partner's husband. First year in the drawing him and his son drew a Vernon LE deer tags. They shot a fork and a spike!!! At least they were happy...

I was the one who shot a small forkie at dawn on opening morning.... Small rack but great meat
