Since I can't seem to draw anything other than a general tag, found myself watching this tonight.

Well made, great actors and definitely a good story. Worth the time to watch.

Set the DVR a few days ago. No idea when I'll find 6 hours for TV, though.

Good first episode, although I had to miss AGT.:D What is this DVR thingy you folks speak of?:o:D

Will watch it on my next 4 days off. Will have recorded all 6 hours by then so I am excited to watch it.

The History Channel is actually showing something historical again? I thought its was just Pawn Stars and Pickers, and the other crappy shows that have taken over a once great channel.

Might have to give it a watch next time ;)

Gotta love the names..."Devil Anse" Hatfield & "Ole Ran'l McCoy. Good period piece.

"The real McCoy" is an idiom and metaphor used in much of the English-speaking world to mean "the real thing" or "the genuine article", e.g., "he's the real McCoy". It is a corruption of the Scots "The real MacKay", first recorded in 1856 as: "A drappie o’ the real MacKay," (A drop of the real MacKay), and this is widely accepted as the origin.[1][2]

Since the true origins of the feud have been debated for years, I enjoyed the way the program introduced all of the versions into the beginning of the program and tied them together as the basic premise. So far, Costner is as good as he was in Dancing With Wolves.

BTW, I watch many of those other programs on the History Channel, and actually have found them to often provide some very informative historical facts. I've even learned how to differentiate between some real and faked antique items, art work, and most importantly restored and faked guns!!!!!!! At least they aren't as dumb as Dancing with the Stars, and American Idol, or even worse the Wife Swapping series!!!

Good first episode. I like the true history movies. I believe Costner has another award in his future.

I like the way they went back in time to get the full story of the families in the war, I myself, learned something with that. They both fought together at Droop Mt

I was wondering where they actually filmed at. Most of that country is either stripped or logged out. It wouldn't take a lot of sets to get it done. sounds like I have some investigating to do.

from what i was told it was filmed in romania. i know the civil war piece "cold mountain" was filmed there also. much cheaper there.

This movie is played out like an Alan Eckart book on the French Indian Wars. Lots of info most likely dealing with truths and half trues. Both characters are pulling there rolls off well. As well with the cast.
I have riden through the area of WV and the hills are a lot steeper then what is showing in the movie.

i agree with you Dave, SW WV is some of the steepest mountains in the state. I've been up a few and some it's threes steps up and two backwards while holding onto anything you can.

I noticed some of the forest had a good bit of pine in some scenes. Yes there are pine areas here but I don't think like that. I'll have to pay more attention to detail. lol

The area is mostly shale hill sides, , fur trees, oaks, , cherry, maple & mt. Laural.
A friend road on the back of a buck down the side of a steep shale mt. Thay are the hardest slopes to climb.
