Gun cases are cool and so is gun etiquette!

Gun safety isn't hard. Some people just don't know any better, which is no excuse.

On my first tour to Iraq, we had a guy get killed when 2 guys were f'ing around with an M9. I was on patrol when it happened, and when we got back there was a very weird vibe. This was a very "high speed" Marine Infantry unit, and believe me we understand weapons, and especially safety. I've always been big on weapons safety, starting since I was a little kid, but this incident made me the biggest advocate.

4 safety rules pretty much encompass everything you need to be safe (Minus some specialty weapons and demolitions, which most of us will never use)

My FIL is a non hunter/ gun owner. Periodically he tries to engage some man talk, with an air of authority. "So, what are you hunting with these days?" And then he blurts out some random numbers which are calibers in his head.🤣
Mine too!

I can imagine your frustration after everything calmed down. Basic firearm safety, like removing the magazine and properly securing the weapon, is something every responsible gun owner should know. It’s unfortunate to see someone so careless with something that could potentially be so dangerous. Hopefully, that guy learned something from how others reacted to his actions, and maybe next time, he'll take better care with how he handles his weapon.

You know a guy named Bill Christy?

Whenever I see someone violating safety rules I always ask them “ is that how you were taught to handle a firearm? Your instructor would be ashamed” it usually gets a sheepish look from them as they put the weapon down. Every now and again I actually get an apology. Sometimes they get defensive until I point out their handling errors. See something, say something or you become part of the problem.

That's not a good feeling. Been there.
I was in Shedhorn Sports a few days ago.
Some guy was buying a pistol for his wife.
She grabbed the firearm, worked the action with the barrel pointed down the isle right at me. Yeah, I knew it was safe, but I was ducking one isle over.
This is why every real gun store has taxidermy in my opinion. Something to aim and dry fire at.

This reminds me of the time I and several others were in line for a gun show. I, and the others , had ARs slung over our shoulders. I noticed an unusual number of kids in the line. Those of us with guns were sort of evenly distributed throughout the line; not together.

I then noticed there was an ice skating operation in the building where the gunshow was being held. I asked one of the moms if 'this' was the line for the gun show. She was visibly relieved when she told me she thought it was the line for ice skating. She said she knew we weren't doing anything illegal but she was wondering what it was that we were doing.

We were waiting in the wrong line is what we were doing. Kinda worrisome how she had no plan on what to do in such a situation. Kinda great there's still enough of a community where she wasn't too worried.
