Just found out about a Leupold VIP night with Randy February 8th at the Pacific Northwest Sportsman's show in Portland; all sold out, damn it! I'm so slow to find out.
I also just got an e mail this morning about a Gerber event at the same show on February 7th, with Randy in attendance, but with no time or other information.
Do any Hunt talkers out there have information on this show?

I'll be at the show Thu-Sunday, "shaking hands and kissing babies." I'll be at either RMEF, Leupold, or Gerber booths. The event that is sold out is a film night on Saturday that is put on by Leupold to raise money for RMEF access projects. I wish I had an inside track to tickets, but Leupold handled all of that. With the response they've received, maybe next year's RMEF access fundraiser will be at a larger venue.

How about the pheasant affair a week later? what day is that? May be in the area

Maybe ask Randy himself. Big Fin

Well, I did, and he got back to me, thanks for the push, I have not conversed with him ever before, and did not know if he had time for the peasants, it appears he does.:)
The Sportsman's show in Portland is a good gig if you are close.

The Sportman’s Show is a weird deal. Part of me always wants to go, but every time I do I find myself annoyed by all the people. I’d love to hang out with you, Big Fin—but I guarantee you will be mobbed. I can’t bring myself to be part of the mob, and I can’t stand crowds

However, if anyone wants to grab a bite to eat Thursday or Friday night, let me know. I live like two miles from the Expo Center.

Agreed. I had a booth at that show for a few years. The first couple days weren't too bad but the last three were intolerable, especially for me coming from outside of a town with 175 pop.

I am not a crowd person either. When I attend conventions or even Hunting With Heroes banquet or even the St Baldricks fundraising event that I lead here in Cheyenne, you usually find me breaking outside or on the perimeter. I don't mingle in the crowd well and tend to get kinda claustrophobic if I am in a room filled with a lot of people.

LOL @Tradewind:

Randy has taken time to talk to old folk like me when I contacted him for permission to promote St Baldricks childhood cancer research. He does take the time but obviously can't respond to everything sent his way. My bet is his message box is way over-full and then some whenever he gets back home.

You would win that bet. Mrs. Fin helps with emails when I am on the road and helps with HT, also. Even with her help, I am hopelessly behind on emails and Hunt Talk PMs.

I never like to be that guy who is delinquent in a reply. I feel that if someone is kind enough to send me a message, I should try my best to reply. Unfortunately, that is getting really hard with the increased number of messages/emails, the amount of trade show and volunteer travel this gig entails in the off season, and my promise to Mrs. Fin that there are some "no distraction" periods when I am home and trying to be a good husband.
