GoHunt sold to equity group

First, to be honest, I’ll say that I hate private equity. It seems to be the American dream right now though…. This probably worked out great for the legacy employees so congrats to them!

A lot of times the first time this happens the equity partners actually invest a ton of money into the business for growth. So don’t be surprised if products and services actually improve over the next couple of years. It’s once they decide to sell and future investors that usually bring about the squeezing for profit we’re more familiar with.

I’ve been pondering dropping. I’ve tried to move toward companies like Seekins and Leupold. The mapping is still sub-OnX. As many have stated, this is good for them and probably bad for us eventually.

The company behavior over the last couple years should have indicated this. It was pretty obvious they were cranking up sales, products, etc. to increase revenue.

As someone who has worked directly with license vendors, I can say the following. All they are worried about is creating more hunters and more license products so they can profit more off the "Transaction fees". Want to know how Brandt has tried creating more hunters in the past? Paying influencers to pimp out public land hunting. It worked so well with eastern turkey hunting, it led to some states having to reduce public land turkey hunting opportunity and created some EXTREMELY crowded woods. Once word got out the influencers were paid, the state agencies caught HECK. The influencers tried to justify it with some mental gymnastics, "well it wasn't the state agency that paid us, it was their license vendor". Blah Blah.

And not sure if it was a license vendor footing the bill, but we all saw what happened with Arizona OTC coues after influencers got paid to pimp it out.

The only positive I see out of this is if Brandt drops the ball on GoHunt and people start leaving GoHunt.
On the other hand, Brandt could try to influence agencies to not openly post draw odds to try to sell more GoHunt memberships. I predict that in the future, some agencies using Brandt will have GoHunt ads in their e-mail newsletters.

Don't like this. Not one bit. It is not good for the public land hunter and draw odds.
