Future hunting trips

I will definitely be working over the next few years to pay for this upcoming hunt schedule:

Utah black bear with hounds - May 2026.
Nepal, Asia, blue sheep, Himalayan mountains - October 2026.
Zimbabwe, Africa , Nonexportable elephant, September 2027.
Cameroon, Africa, Lord Derby Eland, February 2028.

God please continue to bless America! 🇺🇸 Good luck 🍀 this draw season and happy hunting to all, TheGrayRider a/k/a Tom.

This is my current plan but it will likely change. It's hard to project point creep and even more difficult to predict is if my friends can make it work- although I have done multiple solo trips. They are at the age of having kids. On top of these there's always Arizona, New Mexico, and hopefully picking up a returned Colorado tag. I usually do multiple trips a year. The friends and I started accumulating points in 2020/2021 (have burned some) in many states. We are sitting in a good spot to have decent hunts on an annual basis. The fall back will be antelope in Montana or Wyoming if things don't go as planned.

2026: Black Hills Turkey- Will be leaving in about a month.
Wyoming Elk- Buddy will have a bull tag and I'm hoping for a cow, along with other friends. I will go either way. Decent chance we make two trips.

2027: Wyoming Elk- I will draw a bull tag and buddies will be applying for cow.

2028: Colorado Elk or Deer or Wyoming Deer- Will have 7 Colorado deer points and consider cashing in. Will also have 3 elk points and there's a slight chance that's enough to draw in a unit I hunted previously. I will also have 8 Wyoming deer points and that's in consideration.

2029: Depends on the previous year. Getting too far out to project.

I will likely fit in some waterfowl trips to the Dakotas or Canada in addition to these.

Besides doing some regular elk, mule deer, and antelope between Colorado and wyoming my somewhat bucketlist hunts that shouldn't be to tough to draw.

Bison ranch hunt, custer state park, and lower brule reservation.

Colorado cow moose with the muzzleloader.

West texas auodad hunt.

I plan on retiring in 2028 or 2029 and would like to gift myself a fully guided combo mule deer / bull elk hunt in Colorado. I should have 8 to 9 points for both species by then. I’ve never done a guided big game hunt before, but would like to do a backcountry hunt on horses. Between now and then I DIY whatever I can draw. I’ve always DIY hunted been on been several elk hunts and successful on a few, but just thought it would be cool to do something a little different. So as a side note if anyone has any suggestions for outfitters I’ll be looking.

Depending on how NM & CO draws go this year I’m hoping:

2027 - WY elk
2028 - AZ elk
2029 - WY deer
Sometime after 2030 - Alaskan Moose
Sometime after that - Africa

Then spend the next 15 years after that trying to use up all these points that I’m accumulating.

2027 - I'd like to plan a turkey hunt/deer hunt to OH/PA/VA
2028 - My oldest will be 14, CO elk for him and myself

I turn 50 in 2028. Hoping to pull off a trip to Alaska for moose with two childhood friends. And then over the next handful of years I hope to take some pretty cool mule deer hunts. I have 20 points in CO, 19 in AZ, 20 in WY. Should be fun burning those deer points.
