I still hold the opinion that grown men shouldn't emoji.

There's lot's of things grown men shouldn't do, yet here we all are. It is really easy for people who can't contribute intelligent points to simply resort to acting like a playground bully. When it gets the likes from the bandwagoners it only further encourages the behavior. It's embarrassing for them, really.

If you haven't seen @Big Fin's rationale on https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/bi...harvest-in-region-3-units.329009/post-3930549, it is worth reading, as it informs this conversation.

@mtmuley I'm not afraid to admit that I've lodged complaints and reported posts when people started trying to make it personal and were derailing otherwise good threads. I don't have much time nor patience for online bullies. If nobody is going to stand up to them, who will?

I am a complainer.

I don't think this move will help anything as it is intended to. Seem like maybe the opposite. FWIW I have never reported or put anyone on ignore. It's the internet after all. mtmuley

Opinion from a member: I liked to use the like button to show appreciation to the poster for sharing their story and also to keep track of whether I had already seen a story. Also, I usually blow past other people's responses since they most often don't add much to the story.

I think you may have "fixed" a problem many of us never encountered by creating a new problem for some of us.

mmm, interesting, didn't see that post from @Big Fin ... probably cause region 3 in montana doesn't matter to me.

if the forum goes real name only i'm 100% out.

people getting doxed or something similar can and does happen over petty internet disagreements. the situation with DouglasR got pretty weird for some for similar reasons.

there are just as many mentally unstable folks out on the forums as there are QSBs for me to engage much here publicly under a real name. i happily reveal details about myself to people i get to know privately though.

The real name would be horrible. I say that as a guy using his real name. This site has to much Fwp traffic for real names. Those people that choose to be on this site should have their identity protected

Possibly less engagement is a good thing? Seems to me engagement on a site like this is a bell curve. Some engagement is a real benefit for self, conservation and others (at least occaisionally). Too much is not. Call me a little skeptical, but open minded.

Aside from the occasional crypto scammer, I've only reported a couple of posts. Two people have the honor of being on "ignore" because they have demonstrated they bring nothing of value to me here and just want to get a rise, so why give them what they want? I don't like ignoring anyone though, it is an open forum and people should be allowed to speak.

It is fair to recognize that this is the internet and there aren't too many people here that matter in our day-to-day lives. And if trolling on an internet forum is what brings them happiness, then well, I guess that's just kinda pathetic.

I tried anonymity for all of 2 seconds, but someone picked me out pretty quick so I am comfortable with it now. My handle on here is a joke from elk camp and a reminder to not take any of this too seriously (which I also fail at sometimes). Like many, the online persona is a very small reflection of the whole person.
