Forum improvement

Yep protecting grownups feelings seems to be the goal not "optimizing engagement". Not my house so not my rules and if I wanna play in another man's house I'll abide his rules. But don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
That’s pretty much my take on it .
I know I had a few people complain about stuff I posted , or where I posted it , and I know they pushed the mommy button.
I get that it must get old placating the cry babies, but rather than making new rules to affect the entire site , maybe the answer is to point out the art of self responsibility.
Tell the cry babies to grow some skin or they can just not click on threads that trigger their insecurities. Letting them dictate what is or is not acceptable makes no sense , to me anyway .

So there was seriously a lawsuit against this site because someone's feelings got hurt by people hitting a reaction feature?

Not that I am aware of. I think some folks here might be referring to one of my frustrated posts during the Montana legislative session, wherein people were spreading rumors about a position MT-BHA was taking on a bill. I threatened a cease and desist to protect our volunteers and our work, and to shut down the false statements as quickly as possible before it got out of hand and legislators started to believe it. Volunteer conservationists certainly don't need to be dragged on an online forum. I resolved this issue in PMs with the relevant people later, and removed the post, which was admittedly out-of-line.

oh shit, we can get sued on here??? does anyone know any good lawyers in MT???

This place turned to crap in the last year or so. . To much 2025 sissy bullshit. I see this site going down hill in a quick hurry. Or it won't. Don't matter to me.

I won't miss them. I always felt like the like/dislike button was a cop out. I would say I never used it but it is possible that I did a time or two and forgot about it.

I still hold the opinion that grown men shouldn't emoji. Memes however, are a high form of communication.

you've been here for a month. it's always crap in the the offszn.

Doesn’t matter folks, there are far better ways to infer respect and/or confirmation bias with keystrokes.
So true and if keystrokes applied in succinct thoughtful responses, then perhaps far better than merely a "like". However, there are many HT keyboard wizards who feel complelled to respond to each and every post and express whatever opinion or just malarkey ... with often the length of a graduate level dissertation of boring minutia or skewed facts.
My fear is opening HT to pages of keyboard clutter, most of which is time waste.

Personally, I like to express through a "like" or a "love" that the story, the photo, the information is appreciated. I don't feel compelled to write a post response to express that.
Often I may post a photo or a story aimed at getting the attention of one or more HT readers with whom I've become acquainted in person or through HT. The responsive "like" tells me they got the message.
I am disappointed at this forum "improvement".
