They are my favorite fresh water fish, undisputed. You scale em and fillet or what’s your go-to method for em?
I’ve tried all subspecies of bass but can’t say I’ve eaten any of them perch. I almost always catch and release warm water species anyhow but if they’re tasty….
No walleye in this lakeReally nice perch and coho. We fished up there in early June, caught some nice bass, but no walleye or perch. We didnt really know what we were doing.
We have only been fishing once since we got up here from NM last year. I hope to get out Saturday, in the boat that has only managed to be in the water once. Heading to Hayden Lake, aiming for pike and bass (throwing spinner baits), would love to figure out how to catch perch like that. Some good eatin' there!

Yeah most people do, I just have a minimum length 10” and a maximum length 14”, we threw back 80+ that were not in my personal slot on my boat. I also only do this a 1/2 dozen times a year, so pretty minimal on the population.I took a couple guys catfishing this week that were over there last week. They fished with a guide that had a 15 fish limit on the perch. They caught their perch and a couple big rainbows.
I think they just don't want to fillet more. Same deal on the Columbia with walleye that have no limit.Yeah most people do, I just have a minimum length 10” and a maximum length 14”, we threw back 80+ that were not in my personal slot on my boat.
