First wheels

Seems to be a lot of 70's vehicles for first rides! I had a 1976 Dodge 3/4 ton 2wd pickup. It was huge! After the breaks went out and drove it thru the back of the garage, I would end up in a 1978 F150. Senior year in high school I rebuild a 429 BB and swapped it in... Gas mileage...LOL yeah right!

Not this one, but one just like it. 1969 VW Bug

1976 Datsun 710. Pile of junk it was...
I had a '76 Datsun B210 Honeybee, paid $200 for it and drove it to work, school, fishing, hunting, etc. for 4 years. I paid for a little gas and a LOT of oil in those four years. Like Schmalts' it was a piece of junk ......... but never let me down.
The first rig that was actually mine was a '77 Chevy shortbed 4x4, I loved that truck and have thought about trying to find a duplicate many times. My original one got stolen and destroyed by some dirty bugger.

'67 Chevy van with 90" wheelbase. Retired phone company vehicle with 230ci straight 6, mid engine and 3 on the tree. Was a blast to have all my friends in the back and the girlfriend sitting on the engine cover next to me.

1966 Ford Bronco. Straight six, three on the tree.

I had an electrical issue beyond my abilities so I attached a magnetic flashlight to the column I turned on to check my speed. Speed usually wasn't an issue because it drove so ruff I tried to avoid it when possible.

Dang, I still miss that truck when I see one today...

Just like my first truck except for the color. Mine was light blue with dark blue stickers.
