Shawn went with us last weekend, and it was his first time for a lot of things - including his first taste of game. I shot a couple of quail and he couldn't wait to eat them. I seasoned them a bit and let him cook them over the coals on a weinie roaster.... he loved them. It was also his first time shooting a .22 and riding an ATV, etc. It's always fun introducing kids to the outdoors. (Ignore the dates on the pictures - I changed batteries and didn't reset the date.)

I think Quail are the best tasting birds around....succulent white meat, juicy and you can eat the legs "little delicacy"....harder to get than doves but very tasty for sure... good way to start your son...

Yeah, I don't usually bother with the legs, but the first one skinned out so easily that I thought the kids would like the little drumsticks.

Michael has been eating game since he got teeth - elk is actually his favorite, followed by quail and then wild pig. Shawn hadn't had any game before, and he sure enjoyed the quail!
