First Elk

Had the opportunity to hunt elk for the first time last week, an anterless Black Hills cow tag that I had the good fortune of filling outside of Custer, SD. I tried to take Randy’s advice to heart and went to the hard to get to spots (not an easy task with all the drivable roads). Dedicate this hunt to my Grandfather and uncle who passed this year and spent many years teaching us to love the outdoors. View attachment 75648View attachment 75649

Love it. Hope the memories of your Grandfather and Uncle continue to follow you on every hunt. Seems every hunt I go on has some rich memory of my Dad, grandfather, or uncles.

And the Dilly Bar is a great idea. I miscalculated the distance from our current moose hunting location to the nearest DQ. Had thought that through better, I would have packed some Dillies and I would be smiling like you are.
