Field to Wall

Now that's an interesting form. Don't believe I've ever seen one like that. Very dark cape and horns. Unusual. He had a big body! Did you weigh him?
It’s a grooming mount. I’ve always been a fan of them for tall bucks. I didn’t weigh him. I was 5 miles from the truck in a wilderness area. He had a massive body.

It hung up there for a couple years . One day I was sitting on the couch and it came crashing down . Screw is still in the wall and there was no earthquake or anything . Just happened a couple weeks ago and needs to go back to a Taxidermist .
I can't make out what kind of hanger was used. Here's what I have come up with for heavy mounts. It's something I engineered last year for a monster moose euro plaque. I make these from 1/8" thick 1" wide aluminum strapping? sold in 8' lengths at Home Depot. Cut off a piece 2.5" long. Use a quarter inch drill to drill a hole about half way through at center of piece a quarter inch from edge. Put the piece in vice and, using hacksaw or Dremel tool, cut a V to the drill hole. Drill four screw holes in the hanger. Use a 7/8" forster bit to sink a hole about half way through the plaque. Attach the hanger over the hole with countersunk side of hanger center hole towards the hole in plaque. That way the head of mounting screw in wall slips into the countersunk spot in the hanger V. I recently picked up a router head for my Dremel tool and I've made a jig to carve out a recess so the hanger fits flush to the surface of back of plaque. That way the plaque/mount is flush to wall when hung. And this hanger is super heavy duty. Nothing will pull it apart!
