Well, I wasn't going to play anymore, but since you asked...

They are American dippers, and they swim and feed underwater. They have special adaptations to their eyelids, nostrils and uropygial gland to make it possible. Neat birds...

The dippers also time their head dip with the current, so that they can see under the moving water as if it was still.
