Well, Axl and I hit the road intending to find a long-beard. Unfortunately I couldn't call one in any closer than about 70 yards. Maybe someday I will learn how to hunt these birds.
Still had a good weekend. In this area I found 3 elk sheds, but only one brown. The pair were within 20 yards of each other, but were only 5 points (that's ten-pointer to you Schmalts).
I got a little tired on the way back home, so pulled over to the side of the road and found this vermin with a mouthful.
Tis' spring and the nest building is rolling.
This guy had a hen in the area and let me get pretty close. He never did fly and Axl was whining heavy to get out of his kennel in the back of the pick-up. And to think, I thought he was only interested in ducks.
I had a close up of these guys, but they got spooky before I cound ge the camera out. They finally stopped when they realized hunting season won't start for another 4 months.
