From what you see, how are these birds doing numbers wise?

Locally the birds are on the decline. North of the Milk River is a low density silver sagebrush habitat and the in the 10 years I have been here there has been a drastic decline. South of the Milk, the downward trend is not as drastic, but it is occurring.

The sage-grouse habitat in the area I help manage is not identified as "core" habitat for sage-grouse, but there is quite a bit in south Valley and Phillips counties. Their short term trends are more stable.

Jic, I am using a Nikon D90. I recently purchased a Sigma 120-300 2.8 and a 1.4 TC. Big to lug around, but works for blind shooting. Thanks for the compliment. I enjoy getting out and am still learning.
