Extreme hunting pressure in region 7.

Talking to different landowners and hunters along with my own observations this year in northern region 6, I’d say a lot of areas are about 20-30% of what they were two years ago. Some pockets weren’t as noticeably bad while others seemed worse than that.

I will say this. I spent all but 6 days of rifle season in region 7 this year. I’d take that pressure all day compared to the pressure in region 3. It’s not even comparable. The road hunting in 7 may be busier but the number of guys in the field isn’t even in the same ballpark. The gravelly’s and snowcrest would make you guys sick if you think 7 has it bad. With that being said…the deer numbers are abysmal and the buck quality is sickening.

Someone left this region 3 forky slayer a nice note:

R3 regressor. Yes a grown man shot this deer and not only tied up a work meeting so we could all suffer through and re-live the experience, He even went as far as to explain why he thought it was older than last years deer. R3 resident. Gotta love Montana hunting. IMG_9230.jpeg

So 1.6 years instead of 1.5? The miniature rifle really highlights the mass that old troll carries all the way from the pedicles to the forks. 😂

The rifle and wide angle add a lot to that buck...For reference, I think that rifle is about 8" long from end to end.

I honestly could give a chit less what people shoot. It's been fun messing with him on his last day of working with us. Good guy, but damn, I won't miss the agonizingly long hunting stories and meat eater t-shirts...It'll kind of suck not getting all the hot tips and advice from the latest podcasts.

Sorry to derail...region 7 MD hunting blows!

Older because he shot it later in the season. Shoot a forky the first week and it's a young inexperienced buck, shoot him the last week and he is a grizlled old combat veteran at out smarting the orange army.

I hear Minnesota has an easy to hunt elk herd.

Think they gave out a whopping 4 tags this year. The Red Lake Band of Ojibwe issued 20 tags to hunt these elk well off the reservation. I'm sure that helps the farmer's desire to live with them.
