Episode #3 - New Mexico youth elk hunt

Another great show Randy. My compliments to Cody on his first elk. A lot different than setting in a cold deer stand in Minnasota, waiting on a whitetail.

Thanks, guys. One thing I wish we had time to fit into the content of the show is the great habitat work that has been done in that part of New Mexico, much of which was funded by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

This hunt was in Catron County, right in the middle of a lot of habitat treatment projects that RMEF has helped fund. Like many, I often take for granted that this habitat was always this good, when in reality, it is this good because of work done by conservation groups, in this case RMEF.

A few links of work they have done in NM.

It is seeing the tangible results on hunts like this that makes me such a big supporter of RMEF and the work they are doing. And why I am proud to be a life member.

Hope you all get to hunt some of these places where our money is making a difference for elk and elk hunters.

Damn, I didn't get to see it cause I was out scouting for a turkey hunt the whole week. But at least it was for a good reason. I'm looking forward to the repeat. I can't afford to miss any episodes this season there so freakin AWESOME!!!!

Man, what a great episode and story!!

Been out on the youth hunt with my middle son 3 years ago. This year my youngest drew a Muzzy tag there. Maybe I will do a day by day blog on his hunt here on the site........

Fin,

Just wondering........... The screw in your tire do you think it came off the road? I get the impression it may have been put there? Thoughts?
