Recently had the pleasure of going on a guided hunt for free range wild animals on a gigantic private ranch of over 7,000 acres in northern California, it was truly epic!Achieved a long held goal of finally getting a black bear, also got my best deer yet, a 4x3 blacktail buck, and a bonus pig.
If only hunts like this were realistic on public land anywhere near me, I'd never need to buy meat at a store, lol. The guide was great, but the abundance of uneducated game on a working ranch where the animals are used to seeing people, but not used to being hunted, makes hunting so, so, so, much easier!
I just hope I am not spoiled for the rest of my life after this epic hunt.
By the way, both the bear and pig were taken with my new favorite hunting rifle, Browning BAR in .308, and the all copper Sako power blade bullets performed flawlessly. The bear dropped quick with a single shot through its lungs while quartering away from about a 100 yards.
