Geez I didn't know there were elk in Siberia. I'm likely not getting out of the truck on a day like that...

I was hoping someone would recognize the background hill. Coldest elk hunt by far but made the stalk easy walking into 40mph winds. Two bulls and a cow died.

First big game animal I ever killed on my first hunt, second day and still my best elk to date. Killed another one slightly smaller my second season in the same spot. Took a long time to figure out what I was actually doing before I killed another bull. Went on the 12 year bull drought before getting 3 in the last two years. I was thinking a OTC/General/public land only best bull/buck would be cool to see.

Not sure what this would score because I’ve never measured one before but it’s my biggest so far. As a guess I’m thinking 240 to 260 based on other bulls I’ve seen that people have posted before. I’m pretty new to elk hunting so I fall into the first legal bull i see I’m going to try and put a tag on it category. If any of you have a better guess at the score let me know what you think.

I'm guessing GH runs away with that thread, which I thought existed, but definitely can't find. I've never had a special tag of any kind, for any critter, in any state, so it's been a gen/otc for me.

His collection will always be the most impressive to me personally. I've got 4 good buddies that hunt similar stuff and hunt it hard. You could combine all of our lifetimes worth of success and it still wont add up to a fraction of the antlers he's cut off and sold as dog chews. Very impressive.

I'm pictured out for a while but it's been fun to see all the nice bucks and bulls.

Living in the midwest, just going elk hunting and getting a representative animal suits me fine.
I've killed three 6x6 bulls about this size and appreciate the meat nearly as much as the antlers. Next time will probably be a cow hunt.

That must be what I was thinking of, but I think GH just called out public land, not gen tags. Both are worthy of their own category. And checking both boxes certainly adds a massive amount of bonus points.

Just a touch over 360 gross. The great mass really carries the score. Snagged a tag day before season and @Dinkshooter came along and actually spotted this bull at first light. 5 hours to go back up the mountain and come back down into his bed for the shot. Had a packer on speed dial and he showed up in 3 hours and let me ride his horse the three miles back up the mountain. Easy Peasy. LOL
