Elk .... Let's see them!!!

Awesome bull. Great job. Rifle? Caliber? Yardage shot, Can? How many shots?
Thanks!
7 PRC, 168 ABLR 2,910 fps muzzle velocity
Kelbly Nanook, Bartlein 21” #3 contour 8 twist, Manners SL, Hawkins M5 Hunter DBM and mag, TT special, older Premier 3-15 Hunter with elevation turret added, TBAC Dominus
He was at 417 yards
About 7,000’ ASL
One shot hit both lungs and passed through
He hunched up, went 5 or 6 steps, turned and stumbling he fell down, flipped and was done. Probably less than 30 seconds, could have shot a second time but didn’t need to.

Thanks!

I got my new rifle 3 weeks ago in 7mmPRC and Im old school regarding calibers. Always been a fan of the 7mm Rem Mag & .300 Win Mag. But after zeroing in this new rifle out to 200 yards and seeing the groups out to 600 yards, this is an awesome caliber. I have one coming in .300 PRC, and also .375 Ruger ( the parent cartridge). They've won me over.

Wyoming general tag rifle bull on a private ranch, and my first elk in my 5th year hunting. Custom 280AI I had built, first shot at 200 yards was high lung on a partial quartering, tough shooting conditions (at end of 1.75 mile run, sitting off bipod into 20 mph wind) meant that I had to take a couple of follow ups, but got the job done. Round was one of my 160GR AB handloads with 55.5 grains of RL23, doing 2840 fps.

Way to go!! Im sure you were elated. I remember how happy I was 3 years ago when I shot my first. It was in Central Montana. Nice rifle, and thank you for using a can instead of those extremely loud muzzlebrakes. Im sure that your guide a b d your ears appreciated that. Thanks for the details.

6.5 PRC, 140 VLD, one shot, <100 yards. This bull was still in full rut mode and we were able to sneak in while he was preoccupied. We heard him bugling at first light and finally sealed the deal around 9:30am.
These new PRC cartridges are awesome.
