As Region 6 has eliminated further sale of over the counter doe tags in response to the recent EHD die off of whitetail. Walking while pheasant hunting the last 3 days in the Mission valley of western Montana we are seeing multiple recent dead whitetail near water which we attribute to EHD as well. Anywhere else in the State?

Antelope hunting in central MT this past weekend, no dead deer to report.

I live in the Mission valley and while I've heard of an EHD outbreak, I haven't seen any dead deer myself (besides all the ones on the side of 93). Where'd you come across the deer you found? Did you notify the tribal wardens or biologists?

Miles City area got hit hard whitetail antelope and mule deer. I think blue tongue for mule deer and antelope, not that I understand the difference.

All around Ninepipes....usually near some sort of water like small potholes. Tribe and bios are aware of it and have posted some news of it.

I haven’t seen any South of Spokane, but it’s a notorious area during drought. I will be out yote hunting soon, and will keep my eyes open. EHD SUCKS!!!

Public land, we’re in the lead. Disease, we need a rally! How can we fund research?

Friend of mine near colfax has found a few around his house. Palouse region in Idaho has some spots hit really hard

I hunt a few farms near Colfax. They’re along the river and when the water gets low the disease rages. The deer congregate and it gets bad. A few years ago the whole placed smelled of rotting diseased meat…

In some localized areas I’ve seen it pretty bad. On a 10 mile float on the Bighorn a few weeks ago I think I saw 16 dead whitetails in or near the water.

West of Charlo pheasant hunting on private we found nine dead deer all in or near water. I am disgusted with the situation and the management of that resource, especially over the last 20 years that I have been paying attention. The deer population rebounds and then has another of these die offs without any management.

Saw a dead whitetail doe today at canyon ferry laying in the middle of the trail next to a pond. Didn’t see any holes in it and it was in plain sight.

What’s your solution to make it rain more in the summer and prevent deer in high density on really dry years?

Reduction of deer numbers to start would rather see some of those deer in peoples freezers rather than rotting
In R6 at least, they would be hard pressed to reduce numbers more. Populations are already very low. The die-off doesn’t necessarily have any relation to overall population.
