Duck, Duck ....... Coot, Cormorant or Quail, but no Goose

I hunt near Colfax, Washington...never knew Wood Ducks are there...is that only during spring migration?
When I lived in Logan, UT Wood Ducks were much more common in the spring than the fall.

I'm eastern Washington, but south near the Oregon border and Columbia River. These pics are all from ponds along the river (the Oregon side of the river in fact) and in an area that has decent numbers of woodies.

Those wood ducks are awesome! Hope to one day see one in the blind.

Was checking woody boxes after the spring hatch with a buddy of mine (he logs egg numbers and sends them in to CWA. Had the normal woodies, squirrels, and wasps inside but these guys were a first, clutch of kestrels View attachment 185601
This is also a very cool pic. Im surprised by the number of chics that little hawk had. i would've expected 2 or 3 max. Busy mom feeding those mouths....
