I hope not. Sitting on the calls so far is a little unnerving. There is literally no concrete plan on how this agency is going to function. Hiring? Don’t know. Budget? Don’t know. Structure? Don’t know, but we have some ideas. Maybe an incremental roll-out over a couple of seasons would have been a more prudent course.
The fire guys are getting nervous. I don’t like it when the fire guys get nervous, because they generally are not the nervous types.

How many times does it have to happen before dry conditions are just "normal" and no longer a "drought?"

Is it still a "drought" if no humans are affected by it, or is it just that because people decided to live where it doesn't rain very often?

It's just weather. It's just climate. Both change, both have extreme events.
The concept of both of those is entirely human-based.
we just put names to it.
floods have been affecting geomorphology since forever. is a glacier not a glacier cause nobody was there to see it during the last ice age? droughts have changed how the flora and fauna of the earth have evolved and migrated for millennia. we have a scientific record to show all of these.

Looks like good moisture forecast this week for the PNW that should build some snow at elevation in northern ID. Let’s see if it holds up.

3rd year of drought, little to no winter precip.
Monsoons are hit and miss at best.
Tough on drought resistant plants too. Thousands of pinion dying from IPPS. Junipers too.
70 degrees when it should be 40's. Last patches of snow gone.
Gotta water my trees ,if I want any.
Not good for game with no feed or water.

got a good snow up on mt hood this last saturday,,but cascades is still way behind what we need for snow pack,,wont be long and itll be melted out,,several reservoirs in central oregon are way low at this time//detroit reservoir on the west side is empty{literally}
