I feel like this might not have been the greatest year to upend the organization of national wildfire response.
It’ll be interesting to see if we actually notice a difference.

I hope not. Sitting on the calls so far is a little unnerving. There is literally no concrete plan on how this agency is going to function. Hiring? Don’t know. Budget? Don’t know. Structure? Don’t know, but we have some ideas. Maybe an incremental roll-out over a couple of seasons would have been a more prudent course. It’ll be interesting to see if we actually notice a difference.
Aridification is real, by any moniker. How many times does it have to happen before dry conditions are just "normal" and no longer a "drought?"
Since both are categorized by measurable criteria, yes?Is it still a "drought" if no humans are affected by it, or is it just that because people decided to live where it doesn't rain very often?
Is a "flood" still a flood if there are no buildings, roads or cities in the way?

No.
It's just weather. It's just climate. Both change, both have extreme events.
The concept of both of those is entirely human-based.
Well, that is if you actually believe in science.we just put names to it.
floods have been affecting geomorphology since forever. is a glacier not a glacier cause nobody was there to see it during the last ice age? droughts have changed how the flora and fauna of the earth have evolved and migrated for millennia. we have a scientific record to show all of these.
We talk about this all the time as engineers. Is it still a "drought" if no humans are affected by it, or is it just that because people decided to live where it doesn't rain very often?
