Most likely saved my marriage....

Had a close call Saturday night.

I would like to share an experience with you, about drinking and driving. As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.

Saturday, I was out for a few drinks with some friends at 10th St for Cinco de Mayo and had a few too many bourbons.

Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before: I took a bus home. Sure enough I passed a police road block but as it was a bus, they waved it past.

I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise; as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got it.

Wish more had your timely found decision choice. Grats IDNative!

Anyone met a family who lost a child, mother or father due to a driver who had just enough to slow response time to survive while faced with being responsible for wrecking a family?

i know such a family... and it changed my current decisions made. not s the offender, though as an acquaintance.

Don't set the hook to hard ID. :)

Lost three VERY good friends when I was growing up in high school to just that during my Jr/Sr years. I was always the pipsqueak and for for whatever reason they took a liking to me because I did not treat them like Indians, but as friends. The one left went off to college and has worked for BIF for years and we still correspond.
Also have a very good friend and hunting partner who is on the bench. Our wives are in agreement that we always have a ride from either of them. It IS NOT WORTH SCREWING UP SOMEBODY'S LIFE, be it your family or somebody else.

Pressure off? Are you kidding? Duo grandchild crisis today. Left work twice. Re-landscaping the front yard. Trying to keep her plants alive that she dug up and in pots, the ones I threw in the garden, cleaning out her little pond that the raccoon got into and ripped her pump out. Couple of loads of wash (mine) and still have to clean up the kitchen and bathrooms before I pick her up on Wed noon. Oh ya, life is good, but wouldn't have it any other way because if she didn't keep a leash on me I would be living at the Vets Home. Some of us just need some guidance. (In between had to do something with weapons and boolits).

Larry, you're going to have to get your wife back home to take the pressure off us.

Flew right over my head, tJones... I'll blame it on the valium, Baklaffin, Robaxin, Roxycodone... I don't know, pick your cocktail TJ... ,)

Still flying over my head... though they are pretty tight on ensuring I stay doped up... Don't you have a mtn lion pic I can enjoy?

edited:: still not sure where this is going... not in the joke section... ?

I'll add. A couple of weeks ago I went into my local C store to grab a pack. The ugly ol' hag behind the counter asks me " Have you been drinking" ? Yeah, I had had some beers. " Then I can't sell this to you" Promptly sets it behind the counter. WTF Gurdie ? Ok, give me a couple packs of cigs.(I'll just go get it somewhere elase) Just, then a Cop comes from around the corner !!

Left the car there, walked home, and went back to get it in the morning.

Sytes with that cocktail pumping through your veins we could post a house cat up and you probably wouldn't catch it! lol . Just kidding , hope you are feeling better .

Hope my tongue in cheek didn't offend anyone. Not meant that way Didn't post up in the joke section because I see too many names on the sheriffs dept website monthly just thinking what could happen to somebody you love. A good friend of mine (EMT) sent that to me and had me suckered until I read the last sentence. In his version, his wife came in screaming that there was a city bus parked across their lawn.

Everyone needs to lighten up.

When I was framing my house I spent the day walking the floor beams bent over blocking joist. I was crippled as I am now a desk jockey by day and was not use to manual labor. I went to the beer store on the way home, hobbled my way in and the clerk said "you shouldn't be driving" I asked why? he said "because you are to intoxicated to drive" I said I hadn't had a beer all day. He said "yeah right" and still sold me the beer. Strange.

I feel your pain. Ripped out two flower beds in the front of the house to cut down on some maintenance. Going to jockey at the desk first thing and be back home when sod is delivered. Would have seeded, but with flood irrigation it was a no brainer. Just take care of yourself. When you are old as dirt like me it takes longer to stand up straight.

Pretty slow... heh, the bus on the yard got through my dose. :) Timing of posting with father missing, and firefighter passing, brief cross of yours brought back memories before fully gesting your openning post. Oops, my bad.

Cheers spook, better each day! :)
