Dogs are Hunting Partners - Let's see 'em

After two weeks on house arrest post spay surgery, Ruby was climbing the walls.
She finally got the chance to get out a couple times last weekend to blow off the cobwebs. I think she enjoyed herself.

She managed a couple great tracks on pheasants, both of which took flight before she had a chance to point, it was fun to watch. We might get one more chance to run around in wild bird country before things shut down for the spring. She is really solid on planted birds, but has not yet figured out how to pointthe wild ones yet.

Copper, the offspring of a buddies dogs (he trains world class waterfowl dogs), dogs line goes back to 1870s with 3 world champion labs and countless finished titles… I’m not a great trainer but with that blood he knows what to do

This is Wapiti. Got him off a res about a year ago. He's learning real well to stay by our sides while hunting. We love having him along.

pretty common occurence, point, back, retrevive

the brown pup at a year old is a bird finding machine, just not the range of zeke, he tracked a broken winged cripple, at least 800 yards and pointed till i got there, then him and gabby chased him down and zeke for the retreive

pretty great day,20231202_114424.jpg

I've always had a soft spot for dogs. Seems like a lot of folks here have the same weakness. Since we have a "Let's see 'em" thread for everything else, let's see pics of your dogs, whether they are gone or still with you. And a good story to go with 'em always adds color.

We had three dogs at one time, but we are now down to one. She is a fourteen years old cockapoo; deaf as a post and couldn't pass a DMV vision test. But, she still knows that sneaking up to me in the recliner and giving my foot the "Dairy Queen tap" is a good idea on warm days, well cold days too, for that matter. And for being such a great dog to remind me to enjoy life's simple pleasures, she gets a treat when we get there; two treats when Mom is out of town like she is right now. When Mrs. Fin sees this pic with vanilla ice cream remnants on Lilly's 'stache, I'm gonna be in the dog house.

My boys after a great rooster shoot. Trump, the yellow dog is a rooster machine. Tank, the black lab is a sandbagger (12 yrs old) but can mark fallen rooster hundreds of yards out. They are a great team.
