I found one similar about 7 years ago. He tried jumping through the crotch of a tree and got stuck.

This one looked to be working a scrape on the top of that little ditch. We had gotten about 6" of rain over 5 days. Guessing he slipped down the hill catching his antlers.

A first for me, an elk dead head that someone cut the antlers off ! Ha , it was a small bull but still strange

Got it cleaned up and on the wall. Had a hell of time getting the grease out of the skull but it turned out decent.

Lemon oil, potting soil and pine pitch mixed up and put on with a toothbrush, then rubbed off with green branches from a hedge in my yard.

No antlers on this one. I found it deer hunting in ID. I was gong into Hayes taxidermy anyway and brought it in, he estimated it was 10+.
