Hunting season came and went, and as enjoyable as it was, it simply wasn't enough. Earlier this week I just had to get a little more hunting in, but I decided to put up the .260 and switched to the Canon. At first I just saw antler tips above the weeds, then he poked his head up.

I wish I had crossed paths with this guy during season, he looks better than my tag soup.

After a few more hours of driving I came across these sheep. It appears the gents are still pursuing the ladies. It was very cool to watch and listen to these two butting heads.

Nice. Do any of us ever really get "enough"?

I need breaks in the action but I think most would agree that being out of doors amongst Gods wildlife in any way beats just about all else. I feel really bad for "gamers" and urbanites who have the time and means yet stay on the pavement.

The whitetail was at the National Bison Range, that morning the fog was thick and ironically the bison were nowhere to be found at the NBR, so I headed off to north Yellowstone where I found the sheep. Dang, now that I revealed my secret honey holes, they'll be overran with hunters ............. or tourists. I didn't find the bison at NBR, but Yellowstone sure made up for it.

These last couple of pics were in the evening and too dark to get good pics, but he sure seemed like a big ol' bull.

The scenery in Yellowstone was worth the trip alone. Here are a few scenery pics and a couple more sheep ones.

After I left Yellowstone and headed home, I found another group of sheep with some rams still desperately trying to find some receptive ewes. If you can see enough detail, notice the hair on the tip of the horn of the ram in the last photo, when he came running to this group he checked every ewe in the group by either kicking them or with a not-so-gentle nudge of his horn. I don't think he got the memo about sexual harassment.

It's nice to know that after all the ladies shut them down and they've been butting heads all day, these guys still have each other.

After getting home and downloading all of my pics it made me realize I sure am glad for digital cameras. I took a ton of photos and many of them just didn't work, back in the film days I would have went broke getting this many developed! It was a fairly quick trip and a lot of miles of driving, but it was certainly good soul therapy.

I wonder what this guy will look like several years down the road?
