Could try the 77mk in the RUM? Imagine the speedYeah, I'm guilty of a big .30 but have been doing it since 2000. Got it dialed. Guess the 77 TMK train is the next cool kid thing. Whatever. mtmuley
I know what bullet to put speed in the RUM. Trust me. mtmuleyCould try the 77mk in the RUM? Imagine the speed
You are way behind. There's a new 88 TMK out for the 22's. Proofed my DOPE out to 785yds yesterday in my 22 Creed. 7.5lb rifle setup with suppressor and 3 rounds in mag - You can watch the vapor trail and spot your impacts in the scope. Man, I just wanna use this rifle for everything this year but my others are getting jealous...Yeah, I'm guilty of a big .30 but have been doing it since 2000. Got it dialed. I'm not behind on anything. That's the funny part of it all. mtmuleyYou are way behind. There's a new 88 TMK out for the 22's. I use some "tiny" bullets in smaller cartridges too. Shit, they are even copper. Blows minds over on shitslide. Yeah, I am way behind like Chingus said. Hilarious. Oh yeah, no suppressors either. And stuff still dies. mtmuleyTrends are funny things. What trends have passed through over the years? Which did you love and which did you hate? Which should stick and which should not? I know which @mtmuley loves and pledged allegiance too.
I can’t imagine a tiny TMK holding up well on a rib bone, let alone a scapula. There has to be lines. I shoot them out of my 22-250 for coyotes and love them, but elk?
What’s the equivalent brown bear medicine? 6.5 prc?
I feel like Rokcast is infecting our water. 22’s will rule the world!!!
Notice the holes in both sides of the rib cage, one hole through the center of a rib. This is a single 77 TMK from a 223 at just over 400 yards. She was dead in less that 10 yards. I haven't given up my larger calibers. But it's catching on because it undoubtedly works. I was skeptical myself until I decided to actually try it.Trends are funny things. LRX is one of the few copper bullets I’ve been impressed withWe’ve used the 127gr LRX on Roosevelt cows and a spike with great success.
Which others? mtmuleyLRX is one of the few copper bullets I’ve been impressed with
Disagree. It’s about giving yourself slightly more margin for error. Best advice I ever heard for elk hunting is use the biggest caliber you can shoot accurately. If that’s a 6.5 or a .338 so be it. Use that rifle.Any bullet that expands and passes through the boiler room means a dead animal. If I feel I cannot make that shot I do not shoot.
Larger calibers etc are needed for those that make poor first hit shots IMHO.

Elk are not bulletproof, but the reality is there’s a ton of factors while hunting you either can’t control or fail to account for. If you’re shooting a 77 grain match bullet and misjudge your wind at 300 yards and hit the shoulder, congrats you just wounded an elk. Same shot with 7mm or 300 win mag using a bonded hunting bullet or all copper, you’ll more than likely still kill the animal. Guys can be great shots at the range and off a bench judging wind like a pro but shooting in real life is different as we know. I’ll take the gun and ammo that gives me a 12”x18” kill zone over a gun that gives me a 8”x8” kill zone.
