Cow elk rifle

Any bullet that expands and passes through the boiler room means a dead animal. If I feel I cannot make that shot I do not shoot.

Larger calibers etc are needed for those that make poor first hit shots IMHO.

Yeah, I'm guilty of a big .30 but have been doing it since 2000. Got it dialed. Guess the 77 TMK train is the next cool kid thing. Whatever. mtmuley
You are way behind. There's a new 88 TMK out for the 22's. Proofed my DOPE out to 785yds yesterday in my 22 Creed. 7.5lb rifle setup with suppressor and 3 rounds in mag - You can watch the vapor trail and spot your impacts in the scope. Man, I just wanna use this rifle for everything this year but my others are getting jealous...

Trends are funny things. What trends have passed through over the years? Which did you love and which did you hate? Which should stick and which should not? I know which @mtmuley loves and pledged allegiance too.

I can’t imagine a tiny TMK holding up well on a rib bone, let alone a scapula. There has to be lines. I shoot them out of my 22-250 for coyotes and love them, but elk?

What’s the equivalent brown bear medicine? 6.5 prc?

I feel like Rokcast is infecting our water. 22’s will rule the world!!!

I use some "tiny" bullets in smaller cartridges too. Shit, they are even copper. Blows minds over on shitslide. Yeah, I am way behind like Chingus said. Hilarious. Oh yeah, no suppressors either. And stuff still dies. mtmuley

Notice the holes in both sides of the rib cage, one hole through the center of a rib. This is a single 77 TMK from a 223 at just over 400 yards. She was dead in less that 10 yards. I haven't given up my larger calibers. But it's catching on because it undoubtedly works. I was skeptical myself until I decided to actually try it.

There are those that have tried it with great success, and those that never will but proclaim evidence based on "gut feelings".

I'm taking my 7PRC on my OIL elk tag this year, but only because it's literally what I built the rifle for. Honestly, I'd feel more confident with my 22 Creed. The only benefit my 7PRC has over my 22's out to 800 yds is wind deflection, but I'll take spotting shots and practice calling wind over that all day long.
