Not odd, wild rice is a pain. It goes like this: you're about to start cooking your elk steaks, which will be done in roughly 12 minutes, and you think "Oh crap, I don't have a side, all I've thought about is meat and my wife is going to want something with it! I know, I'll cook some wild rice, that sounds good! Oh crap, this stuff takes AN HOUR!?!?! Screw THAT!" ...and that's why I have a whole bunch of wild rice in the pantry that never gets used.

Ive been reading the back of the BOOK and it said this would happen.

Being a great road scholar I ain’t so I had to look up PESTILENCE and I found it interesting

Pestilence - any contagious or infectious epidemic disease that is virulent and devastating.

Of course this was written approximately 1,960 years ago so it must be a coincidence. I’m sure this dusty old book my grandma used to read and gave can’t really be true.

Eventually a SARS or MERS. survivor will com onto contact with Wuhanvirus.

Then we can see about immunity or partial immunity.

H1n1 had similar strains that older folks had been exposed to which is why it was believed it was harder on younger folks.

The reason they are currently injecting do is with experimental vaccines is because they were working on MERS, SARS for a decade.

It's covid 19 for a reason. Theres 18 others, at least.


Dial it down about 10 notches.

The push, or sweat, with this one is its widespread. There is a boatload of money in it. Not to mention national pride. Grants. And yes fame.

3 months ago 99.9% of the world didn't know a single biologist, epidemiologist, microbiologist. Including ones in hot zones.

Now they are celebrities(which they should be, and paid like it).

But if you have time during a panic to do the Joe Rogan show, or all the morning shows or the cable news shows. You're not "sweating" or panicking.

This thing is going to smack older folks pretty hard, no doubt. But most disease does. As does trauma, cognitive issues, etc.

The science isvmoving so fast on this by the time a study is published, then peer reviewed, it ancient history. And until it got out if China, everything was bullshit to start with.
 
While enjoying one of my 512 rolls of toilet paper I googled some real cheery death stats.

Plague. Influenza. Cholera. AIDS.

There are the top 10 in a nutshell.

Any of you participate in a 54 page forum on AIDS? it's not cured.

Plague? It's prevalent in the whistle pigs I shoot.

Cholera?

We might get a few lines on dudes missing a hunt because they have the flu.

Honestly I would have thought tuberculosis would have been there.

Point is. Serious issue= yes.

Crash the world economy, make me hide the charmin in the gun safe?= no

Short a vaccine. You all are gonna get it at some point.

Crashing the economy =less capital to invest in R&D.

Plus, there is that tricky "america" thing.

Folks will participate for a few weeks or so with shutdowns.

But very few are going to watch their money drain to 0, lose their home, etc, sitting around.

As more and more folks who recover, tell their story, fewer and fewer folks are going to be so willing to sit in shutdown.

Social science is a science too, and you don't need 54 pages to discuss what happens after about a month of shutdown.

Well, if this craziness is still going on in a couple months when I’m due to return to the states, my wife wants me to self quarantine for two weeks. Ok, I’ve got a few OTC tags already, I’ll head up north for two weeks to hunt.

Wife said that’s a great idea, so it’s not all bad.
