Well I headed out east yesterday afternoon to chase Rio's on the plains. Never been to this area before but if you have to wait 3 years for the second season one would assume there are plenty of birds..I got there about an hour before dark started throwing on my camo at the truck when I start I hearing gobbles. Well I got them roosted and backed out..445 am the birds were gobbling like crazy..I had my bow and couldn't get it done so around 1030 I went and grabbed my shotgun, just about noon this guy gobbled and woke me up from my snooze. Wrong move for him. 2 for 2 now I just need to get my daughter on one and this would be complete

Nice looking bird. Last time I was through there I spotted a nice flock in a line of cottonwoods on 287 just South of Limon.

My dad got it for Christmas when he was 14. I got it when I turned 12 shot my first 5 deer with it before moving up to my rifle. I refurbished the stock between 10-15 years ago and put it in the safe. Plan on getting the barrel reblued and passing on to my son.

I have 2 bolt action shotguns. One is an old Marlin 12 guage that the gun shop dude called a "goose gun" when I took it in for some work when I got it from my grandfather. The other is an old Mossberg 20 guage that I bought for my ex wife to hunt with but she decided she didn't like it, so the kids use it now.

Nice lookin bird. I got a Rio from Oklahoma and its got longer legs than the other species. any one else notice that? Just wondering. He's mounted standing on a branch and the legs are noticably longer than any Merriams I have killed; and My eastern........BOB!

Here is a pic of the three birds my 8 yr old shot a couple weeks ago in nebraska. Thanks for selling cheap tags to get kids involved. One Tom had a 10 inch beard ,one jake and the third Tom had four beards
