I wanted to get some opinions if 3 points was enough to get a decent elk hunt in Colorado these days. I'm in uncharted waters as I'm transitioning from 30 years of trophy hunting, to opportunity hunts. I will be limited to base camp hunting only, unless there's a place where an ebike would help. I can still get around on foot OK, but my backpack days are over due to heart. Goal is to just find a hunt with decent elk density, some bugling action, reasonable pressure, and have a chance at a raghorn. I would even take a cow late in the hunt. Been too long since I put an elk in the freezer. As I'm retired, I could hunt the entire archery or muzzleloader season. Don't like hunts where the pressure is so bad all the elk vacate the vicinity. Just curious at what point level can such a hunt be found. If I should try for a tag now, or build another point or two. I know the system is changing in 2028, so I expect it's best go hunt this year or next. Thx much.
