Colorado 3 Points Elk

I wanted to get some opinions if 3 points was enough to get a decent elk hunt in Colorado these days. I'm in uncharted waters as I'm transitioning from 30 years of trophy hunting, to opportunity hunts. I will be limited to base camp hunting only, unless there's a place where an ebike would help. I can still get around on foot OK, but my backpack days are over due to heart. Goal is to just find a hunt with decent elk density, some bugling action, reasonable pressure, and have a chance at a raghorn. I would even take a cow late in the hunt. Been too long since I put an elk in the freezer. As I'm retired, I could hunt the entire archery or muzzleloader season. Don't like hunts where the pressure is so bad all the elk vacate the vicinity. Just curious at what point level can such a hunt be found. If I should try for a tag now, or build another point or two. I know the system is changing in 2028, so I expect it's best go hunt this year or next. Thx much.

JFC Dude….You’re really fishing for help this year aren’t you. You have lines in the water on every Forum. To be completely honest, I’ve never seen anyone who is a self-proclaimed accomplished Hunter ask for more help from others in my entire life of internet hunting forum involvement. Lol

JFC Dude,
Here we go again. You got a cob up your arse? I'm not even asking about units. As I clearly stated, I'm totally abandoning my previous hunting style. Just seeking general opinions. I've helped tons of guys on this forum. Waaaaay more than I get advice from. And way more than you ever have. I never asked to have my points devalued by any state. That was Colorado's doing.

I'm really disgusted with the high % of trolls on ALL the hunting forums these days whose parents were so awesome they couldn't teach them "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all". I swear, it get's worse every year. These negative comments clutter up every thread and a guy's gotta sift through mountains of them to actually read about the topic. Somehow I've avoided making an unprovoked personal attack on anyone since my first forum post in 1996. I just don't get it. What's so hard about this concept?

This started out as another good thread eleven pages ago. To the OP, the answer to your question is yes in my opinion. As long as the system doesn't change, as they always do. I just would not aim high. Nothing above a general tag these days. Otherwise you are playing bait-n-switch with each state. Unfortunately, I've found you can't make long term plans. Your plans are dictated by which state has a point devaluation scheme brewing. This year it's Colorado. Probably Nevada will be next? That's what you have to go by.IMG_2140.jpeg

The only real troll I see is you trolling for hunting spots on as many forums as possible, simultaneously.

Good luck in your fishing expedition Zim!

Mallard, Post #3 clearly states my opinion of tools like you just think it's a great idea to make unprovoked personal attacks on web forums. I stand by it. If you don't have anything positive to contribute to a thread, just don't say anything rather than pollute Randy's site.

BTW - Your interference comes at no particular surprise. I just did a search of your last 20 posts and zero of them were positive, and none even had anything to do with HUNTING! Just mindless drivel and extremely childish unfunny attempts at jokes. Any other forum member is free to see this. All they have to do is a post search with your handle. It's there for everyone to see. First class non-contributor. You are nothing but dead weight to this forum. And I sure as hell ain't your bro.

See, that's better, straight hate, and you didn't even have to bring my trailer trash parents into the fold.

Good job.

Zim you've never ruffled my feathers but you do and say some weird things. Everyone calm down.

You've had some primo hunts over the years, planning opportunity hunts should be able to be done in your sleep at this point. With all your health issues, just go enjoy it, rather than worry about all this. There are lots of picturesque CO units you can draw a muzzy tag or bow tag for with 3 points or less. So theres the answer to your question.

YOU are the only one here that made an unprovoked personal attack. You even attacked me out of the blue twice on another HT thread Jan 23 & 28 (see below). I had posted nothing about you! This is all you contribute to Randy's site. What the hell is wrong with you? You a psychopath or something?

And I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Mark from Bowsite doesn't agree with your stupid unproductive Bowsite comment. I put him on this archery bull in Nevada unit 214 after he reached out to me on that forum. He knew I was familiar with the unit and shot a 350" there in 2007. His scored 399" & change and I could not have been more happy for him. I even knew where Randy Ulmer took his bull there ~2004 but directed Mark to a better spot. What have you done for others lately?

Mallard, Please just leave Randy's HT forum. You do absolutely nothing productive here. Nobody wants to hear your bitching, whining & least of all unprovoked personal attacks. Do I need to cut & paste all of your childish negative posts? All unrelated to hunting? The website is called "HUNT TALK". Not "Mindless Drivel Talk".
