Can anyone recommend a point & shoot camera that won't freeze up in cold weather. I have a Canon and an Olympus and they won't power up if the temp is below 20 degrees.

Is this a camera issue or a battery issue? You may want to try putting the battery in your front pocket to keep it warm. Hopefully the fix is as easy as that.

I have had three Canons and now have a Canon G12. Never had that problem. I suspect Miller is right on with his diagnosis.

One thing we do for our video cameras and I do for my still camera when I am getting ready to use it, is to take hand warmers and put them near the battery. Battery life in cold weather sucks. No other way around it. Keep the battery warm and you will get a lot longer use before needing to recharge.

If you are looking for a pocket size point and shoot, the Olympus TG610 would be the way to go. Or any of the cameras in that family. Have one I have taken from the top mountains in Colorado to the Caribbean and into the ocean.
