Anyone hunt gmu 18? Suitable country for a backpack cow sep muzzleloader hunt? Looks like lots of public land, med to low road system which is good i would think

we have hunted Wheatly Creek drainage a couple of times and always found elk.Not a large herd but enough to be interesting.We only hunted muzzleloader season.

plenty of roadless area in there. I live quasi-nearby, but haven't hunted it. Seen elk along the road though during season, so they are there! Mid-september is prime time for a backcountry backpack hunt out here. Good luck. there is some gorgeous country in 18

Watch out for falling tree's!

Beetle kill is pretty bad in 18

18 has some great terrain and a solid heard. Just like you said, look for the roadless areas. Same rules apply for 18 as they do for the other units in that area...it gets hunted fairly hard, but most people never get that far from their truck. Good luck!
