Not so fast, back to wingmasters. When my grandfather lost his eye sight he gave my brother and I each a few guns. I lost rock, paper, scissors and my brother got the 870 wingmaster. I've stolen it a few times, but he always manages to get it back. A while ago, after bar hopping around coastal Maine, brother and I tried to sober up by walking around the 24hr L.L. Bean. They had a 870 wingmaster for a reasonable price on the used rack. I didn't grab it, but I've always regretted that.
Id love to have both an 1100 and 870 in the safe. I ended up with my grandad's sxs .410, old stevens. Love it, but damn if my ass still isn't chapped about the wingmaster.
My wife would agree, we've found hunting out of state for birds with my dog is far cheaper than any NR big game tag or a girlfriend. Although I'd take a few NR big game tags now then.
His dogs might have forgotten more about chukars than I'll ever know. And as long as he doesn't request ipa anything, I'd cough up a few beers for lesson or two.Another vote for @El Jason . He’s an A hole, and his dogs are clueless. He’s arrogant though and he may be willing to try to prove me wrong.

Fair enough! you need a Wingmaster! My Express has been my only shotgun for 99% of what I’ve done with a shotgun, bought it when I was 14 or 15, and used it around our family’s dairy on thousands of trash birds as well as all my hunting too. Hard to beat an 870 and I hope there’s no finish left on it by the time my kids are fighting over it.
I'm all ears. Between an 1100, fuel, fishing, and bird searching, this trip might end up being more than an out of state elk license lol
That I can do if I there's room between miller lites.

@Irrelevant I’ve hunted 3-4 days with young dogs. Finn is coming 9 and by day three is hunting about 20 yards in front of me. Charli will still be tearing it up on day three.
Obviously, conditioning and time of year play into this, as well as where we are hunting. Certain areas, I won’t be good for more than three days of hunting.

Im going to try hunting chuckar with a coonhound this fall/winter. Ive shot grouse/pheasant
over him and he is good at finding dead birds. He mosrly hunts like a lab for birds, so we will see how he does. Seems to be a ton of quail around my area, but mostly on private.

Two solid truths here. My group usually has two or three dogs and they are generally done after one day unless it's an unusually short hunt. Our area is very rocky and tough on pads. We plan on one big day and hunt till LST unless limits. If you want to hunt multiple days pick some easier spots or limit to shorter hunts. Also remember if you're hunting pointers they are going to cover close to twice the distance you walk. Our hunts are usually between 8 to 12 miles.
Nevada is more forgiving on terrain. They had great hatch survival in 23 and 24, according to the forecast 2025 was a much lower population compared to the tremendous two prior years.
Nevada really pumps up their Chukar, lots of info from game department and social media Chukar groups.
Remember the first hunt is for fun, after that is vengeance.
