The wife and I took a 12 day, 5000 mile road trip for a Christmas vacation. Went through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, spent Christmas in Jackson Hole, went into Idaho to see a buddy and his wife, then on to Montana and back for home. Took her to see the Grand Canyon, and we stopped at every Cabela's store we went past. I've now been to 16 different stores. We saw LOTS of critters. Antelope, whitetail, mule deer, elk, bison, moose, desert bighorns, and even a porcupine waddling around. Stopped in at the RMEF visitor center in Missoula, and missed out on meeting some big shot hunting guy by a couple of days when he took off for a hunting trip. Had a lot of fun, but it sure was nice getting back home!

A few pictures.

Maybe this one is what that "hunting guy" was looking for!

Somewhere in Arizona I believe.

Great pictures. Was that bull losing hair?

Couldn't tell you. I could only tell there was something nice about him and stopped for the pics. Once I got them loaded and looked, I could see why! I just love that split kicker.

My wife has never been to most of those states so it was kind of an eye-opener to her. The first time she saw mountains on a previous trip she was hooked! Now I've got her spotting critters almost as fast as me!

This trip sure beat staying home waiting to go back to work! Got some screaming deals at several of the Cabela's stores we stopped at as well! The Grand Canyon was almost a total fog out but she was able to see one spot that was fairly open. She's a little scared of heights, but handled the mountain passes very well. Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado was snowing at the time but no problem driving. Wish the view would have been better. That's what happens in wintertime. Funny thing, every time we take a trip somewhere the folks at work ask if I'm going hunting! Ugh. Maybe next time...

That is awesome! I would love to do that with my wife! She's been to a few of those locations, but she and I both love road trips.
