My hunting partner and I have been watching a screwed up buck and had passed on him several times hoping for a true wall-hanger. He disappeared for a couple days, but showed up last night (last day of season). We decided my partner would take the shot with me right behind him. With about 10 minutes of shooting light left we busted him at 294 yards. The shots were so close together there was a "whop-whop" before he hit the ground. Lungs and heart were mush and he never knew what hit him. Although I only got the assist, I had to throw my ugly mug in the shot.

Although we found a couple better bucks, this was an exciting hunt finding this one buck on the last day after holding off earlier. The bigger bucks we passed on were younger bucks and in an area with no pressure. Hopefully we will be rewarded next year.

That's a unique buck!

Your "cull" bucks are of the quality that us public land wretches would be real pleased with.

3 days to fill your Hills tag. Best of luck. The cold weather should keep them feeding and moving.

He's not a bad buck and has some character. I watched a much smaller one than that die on Friday.

That's a nice buck. He might have produced some interesting non-typicals someday. I hope he bred a few does before his demise.

I don't think he has any genes. Pretty sure he was a buck I missed broadside last year as a much better typ-4 (I just plain missed and have no real excuse:BLEEP: ). My partner hit him after I missed and although we searched hard for a couple days, could not find him.

Our guess is he is the same buck and although smaller, might have a bullet in him which may have lead to the ntyp rack. Skinned him in the dark last night and didn't have an opportunity to verify that yet.

Oak, just got a dink in MT.

Good work! My buddy did a similar deed on a 3x4 buck yesterday. I had to twist his arm pretty hard. LOL

NICE! Now don't limit the chlorine to the deer gene pool!!! I'd like some dumb roosters for the next time I head that way!
