As a couple fellows here on the forum know I am currently with a dear friend in Casablanca. While I wait for her to get ready to go out for dinner, I thought I would post this, although it has absolutely nothing to do with hunting private land without a guide.

She is almost my age and she came to the Islands for a visit, and has been wanting to go to Casablanca to eat at Rick's Cafe.

I have explained to her that "Rick's Cafe" did not exist when the movie was made, at least not in Casablanca. Casablanca, the movie, was shot on a sound stage in Hollywood and the existing Rick;s Cafe in Casablanca didn't open its doors until sometime around 2001, from memory.

Granted it looks just like Ricks Cafe did in the movie right down to the piano and piano player. Even the food isn't bad for a tourist trap but the fact that Bogart and Bergman was never there, just doesn't matter. It is packed every night it is open, and there is a small theatre in the club, that screens the movie each night.

Play it again Sam (-:

I understand. Alaska was also my dream. In my case the desire started after reading Jack Londons books

April, have fun !

thank you, to all who responded ( here and privately )

new pa mt man---excellent movies. I also enjoyed Sebrina and The Barefoot Contessa . How nice was that for you and your wife, glad you go to do that.

As I mentioned to Ken. The older i get the more I like the burka idea--covers all the wrinkles

And Randi ask if we had steamed sheep head. we did, the tongue is considered a delicacy --we also had sardines, snail soup, camel, and Briwat's with mint tea

Howie, the chief of police was still wining regularly (-:

sorry I asked o_O as weird as they may sound only "sardines" really surprised me

glad you had a good time

new pa mt man was the movie Africa Queen shot in Key Largo ?

not only did you answer my question but you made me laugh.

I am too young to remember him--was this true ( drinking whiskey part ? )

So cool.

Bogart movies are some of my favorites.
Have and have not, African Queen,Key Largo.
My wife and I got to cross one off my bucket list a couple years ago.

That is a lovely photo, the Stars and Stripes on the Stern, and the Union Jack on the front, brilliant!
I'm sure this will finally prompt Europe to post up some of her photo's as to date we haven't seen a single photo of her adventures to far flung places.
Cheers
Richard

The muck and the slime of the scene where they get trapped in the papyrus reeds, and he gets out to pull them to safety with leeches everywhere.......perhaps the least of his worries. Bilharzia (a liver parasite) infections meant that we were told to never go into any still body of water. And I should mention that I'm not a big fan of leeches either!

Noharleyyet was kind enough to send me some info and I ask my mom, who ask why I was asking about him. kansas dad and new pa man man also added to my curiosity. I will watch Casablanca and Africa Queen. I am sure my mom will watch them with me :)

Thanks April for the thread. It is kind of fun to have a thread where we are not argueing about the proper bullet for the 30-06 if hunting Antelope in Wyoming
