"Camping" on elk?

My Second year hunting a unit in Wyoming we had elk coming through our Wall tent camp, spooking horses, and had bulls bugling in the meadow. For the second year in a row i killed a bull at first light. There were trees in the way but if there weren't I could see camp from the kill site. We had been in camp a couple days and had 6-10 horses and three tents setup in the trees. But the elk were more worried about each other and the bull I killed hung out in the open just a little too long.
