I always hunt from home so closest I can get for tradition is a big steak on the smoker the night before moose season and hotdogs cooked on the heater in the deer blind in November lol

That cobbler is awesome!!!The one thing that I always cook at elk camp is a dutch oven cobbler. CPOs birthday usually falls during 2nd season and I do this as a gesture......but also because is is sooooo good. Super easy. I like doing a peach and pear mixture.

Grilling/camp fire bacon (or side pork) is a fine art. Takes it to a different level.When someone has a fire going and breaks out marshmallows, I have been known to break out a pound of bacon and put it on the grill rack. People have said it's brilliant.....
If a jar of dilly beans or cowboy candy doesn’t get brought out, it’s basically just a camping trip.
