Budget trekking poles

Truly not one of the better items out there to go full frugal on IMO. Serious mountain hunting is a pole snapping game.

But there might actually be good cheaper options out there, I don’t know. My black diamonds though are going strong with over a decade of serious alpine, backpacking, and hunting use.

Totally understand. I've never used them but read about a hunt where they pretty much saved the day. I know this is the place to get real info. mtmuley Plus, I'm getting old.

Ditto what togie said. I’ve had the same pair of black diamonds for 15+ years. Beat to hell and still going strong.

Not sure what budget is to you, but these are at REI for $99. Black Diamond Trail Back Trekking Poles - Pair

That’s what I have had for the last 15 or so years. Have packed a lot of critters with them. Just make sure whatever brand you get to get the snap lock and not the twist lock
It was pretty eye opening when I borrowed some packing out in some steep stuff. I will need them in the area South of Malta. mtmuley

I bought a pair of these a couple years ago for about 50 bucks and I’ve been happy with them.

Osage shoots about 7/8" big end and 65" long. Cure them and you can beat a mastodon to death with them if your boom stick fails to fire. Leave them leaning against a tree and you need to cut two more.

I also think the Costco ones are completely fine. I need to get some to replace my old bent black diamonds. I don’t use them all the time, but they’re great for packing meat and they make very handy shooting sticks as well.

The Costco poles are 80 bucks. The Black Diamonds about 100. I can get the Black Diamonds at Scheels in Missoula. Hate going there but headed that way. mtmuley
