Bud Moore was a well known Montanan. He was a forester, conservationist, trapper/hunter and all around historian, especially of the Bitterroot Mountains and the Lochsa area. He was friends with well-known Montanans like Norman Maclean, and wrote a heck of a book I've read half a dozen times called, "The Lochsa Story". I recommend it. Especially for those interested in hunting, trapping and land ethics.

The Montana Memory Project has made available his collection of photographs. Over 4,500 of them! He was a big hunter and trapper and though I haven't looked at all the pictures they are a treasure trove of old-time hunting and fishing photos. Worth checking out.

And there are literally thousands more.

It's mind boggling to think of the sheer amount of days and experiences that man had outdoors.

Thanks for passing the link along.

Way cool! That book is near the top of my "to buy" list. I totally dig the pics. I really wish my family had taken more over the years. I try my best to take as many as possible. While cool now, they'll be even more cool way down the road.

Sweet. That will be a great distraction from work. Those pictures are awesome - glad that they are up for all to see.

+1 to the Lochsa Story. I really enjoyed it and cool to know its just around the corner from me.

Hopefully a person will be able to buy the documentary sometime in the future.

Worth the $3

I wasted the better part of a day going through the collection when you first brought it up. If $3 will get you a viewing, $10 will get you unlimited ones... what's a Hamilton anyway.
