Curious how others would handle this - I have a new to me low mile F150 , dealer plates still on the truck waiting for MN ones to come in the mail . I’ve had this thing for 2 weeks maybe .

Backing my boat down the ramp , guy pulls up next to me seemingly in a hurry . The city had dug out the ramp earlier and there was some rocks flat but about the size of golf bslls or bigger scattered about on the concrete ..Guy next to me spins tires un intentionally on the rock and flings a rock right into my passenger side door . Quarter size dent right to the sheet metal .

Gets out super apologetic but that’s about all it went . I didn’t even know what to say , and wasn’t overly angry . I just let I go I guess and told him thanks for letting me know least and I guess shit happens . Truly kind of a freak accident ….. I told a few people and have gotten a variety of answers on what they would have done . What would you have done ?

Not much to be done about it. Sorry it happened. Next time go ahead and scratch your truck as soon as you buy it, rip that bandaid off.

I would have felt responsible had I done it. In such situations I suggest the person get a police report. I follow what the law and the insurance Co says. I suspect his insurance would have covered it with no immediate cost to him.

At most it'd cost me $1000. I'll pay that just for self satisfaction.

First week I had my diesel some dude let his German shepherd out off the leash at the boat ramp it jumped up and scratched it down to metal. That dog almost got shot. He gave me his number to get it fixed couple days later I was over it and never called him. The body shop when I had some other work done said they would have to repaint the entire half of the bed to fix itIMG_4363.jpeg

Good idea in theory, and I agree with letting insurance handle it, but I would be shocked if your local law enforcement would do a crash report on something as minor as that. Unless the vehicles actually made contact and did real damage just exchange information and call it a day.

If you damage a person's vehicle, even if it's an accident, you should take responsibility and pay for it to be fixed. Even though he apologized, sounds like he tried to sleeze his way out of paying for it. Unless he was clueless to the damage? Either way I would have gotten his name or license plate and called my insurance.

Took my truck for an oil change awhile back and when I was ready to leave I noticed from the back of the cab all down the box it was dented and scratched. Talked to the manager and told him I understand things happen. They fixed the 15 000 dollars of damage. I still get my oil changed there.

Dang. Accidents happen, and it's nice when people/companies own them vs putting up a fight.

Have you ever had any paint-less dent removal done before? We had a broom blow off the garage wall during a storm and put a dent in the side of my wife’s new car. I believe it was less than $100 to pop it out and I can’t even find where it was anymore.

Drivers are generally not responsible (legally speaking) for rocks thrown up from their tire. If the rock were to come off of their trailer or out of the bed or something, then they can.

This will just will make it less painful when you're driving in the woods this fall and get some branches that leave scratches down the side lol
