The more likely scenario is that R and NR LOs happily screw your opportunity to benefit eachother.

The classic example is already referenced in this thread. NR LOs were given permits and those permits came out of the NR pool.

If there ever are transferable tags - it will because the R in this state collaborated with NR LOs to take opportunity from DIY NR.

Thanks for calling out for explanation. However, it's highly doubtful that a logical solution will be forthcoming. The "transferable tags" ideology is a narrow mindset with no overall rationale that could benefit Montana's wildlife, wildlife management, or hunting opportunities. This is close to a Deja Vu of previous hollow Wisconsin "assertions".

He could be wrong. Im not opposed to the idea out of principle - just this statement as baseline of whats acceptable - are the tradeoffs worth it for the resource and the beneficaries (state R) utilization of it?

I’m still baffled that non-resident landowner tags are a real thing. No beef with resident landowner tags and obviously regular non res tags, but that’s something that should never exist. If you want to own land and have easier to get tags, live here. Not totally on topic, but kinda related.

There's so many fallacies with treesharks ideology it's not even funny.

First one being, I don't even think he applies or hunts in Montana.

After that, if landowner tags become transferable it will only be for the general combo licenses. Meaning, you would still be applying for the special permits in the limited areas throughout the state. Which also means that unless you have a stack of NR points for the breaks, elkhorns, bitterroot, etc. for deer, you're not going to be hunting those areas. Even with points, it's doubtful.

Plus, lets just be honest, even at the normal NR prices, Montana hunting for general deer and elk isn't close to what it used to be. But, I'm sure there will be people willing to pay substantially more to avoid the draw. The chances of treeshark paying more than the going rate for a general combo, either elk or deer is about zero.

Its funny how a person like treeshark can likely hunt Montana probably 7-8 times in a 10 year stretch by being smart about it, want's transferable tags that he'll never purchase.

IMO, he's all fake and likes being a contrarian, that's cool. But, to be whining about no opportunity while sitting on the couch when he 100% could be hunting multiple states a year, is self-defeating. I leave so much NR opportunity on the table every year it's ridiculous.

On the other hand, he does constantly remind everyone to be diligent on keeping transferable tags out of your states.
