I talk a lot of game about moving to Montana at some point. My wife even opened the door a little bit wider in recent weeks. But, after a day on Big Blue and feasting on salmon the last two days with 15lbs going into the smoker tomorrow it's pretty damn tough to get away from living on the coast.

It's just the opposite when you've spent your whole life in the mountains. The ocean just ain't my thing. Looks like a great day though. mtmuley

Yep. You could not give me the ocean, but those are some great eats that you whipped up! Tough decision.

I have considered moving to Wyoming, but I have so much opportunity to keep my freezers full here and Wyoming is not a bad drive anyway.

I moved from the Washington coast to eastern Montana and I definitely miss the salmon/steelhead fishing but I don't miss all the people that go with it. You can't have it all though so I traded my favorite steelhead waters for a pocket full of tags and the wide open spaces of Montana.

You forgot the part about leaving all of the left-wing nut jobs.

Everywhere has nut jobs but at least in Montana they're nut jobs just like me. Move to Montana and you won't regret it. There is a sense of freedom here that I haven't experienced anywhere else

Spent all day yesterday and part of today towing my boat over to Sekiu, Washington to get my salmon fishing fix. Make at least two trips a year, one to Sekiu and at least one to the Columbia River. Those trips usually are enough to fill the freezer for the year and leaves the fall for hunting in my home state of Idaho. The best of both worlds.
