I have been messing around with canning this and that. One of my favorite things to can is Squash Pickles using both Yellow and Zucchini to make a colorful pickle. I did some this summer and thought about entering a jar in the Louisiana State Fair. After going to a Corn Maze with one of our Granddaughters we drove to the Fairgrounds to enter my Entry. As I approached the Ag Building I got in line behind Ladies that must have had an entry for every category they had at the Fair.......and they had a mean look on their face. I thought I must have stepped in dog dodo the way they looked at me! We went to the Louisiana State Rodeo last night, but first we went to check on the Canned Goods Exhibit. We looked and there it was, First Place! My first try and I got a Blue Ribbon! We are going to have a Fish Fry for Thanksgiving with traditional desserts. And we are gonna have the Best Pickles in the whole state!!! John

Awesome and congrats. Had similar expereince but in our County fair. Lil old lady that was owning the jelly category got unseated by my chokecherry jelly, three years running till I granted her a reprieve and quit entering. LOL. Actually she was very nice and jelly was but one of at least 10 categories she entered.

Don't mess with the Fair Ladies...some of them wait for Fair Week all year. Seriously, congrats, those look great!
