Last Friday was the start of ND's youth deer season and although we didn't make it out for the opener because of a class trip, my 13 year old made up for it the next day.

He dropped this doe within yards of where he shot his first ever deer just last year. Seems we found a good spot for which we are VERY grateful to the landowner for allowing us to hunt.

Now he has plans of doing something similar with a bow though I expect he will be eyeballing the buck next time.

Good thing he's out helping with the grocery bill. He's done some growing up in the last year!

Does ND have trees? Nope, barren wasteland. ;)

Did ya make him field dress it? But of course. Made him do his first one too.

How long did you have the blind up for? A whopping 1 hour and 15 minutes which is how long we were in it before he pulled the trigger.

Oak: As for the grocery bill, no kidding and I have two of them this size. :)

Congrats to both of you.
Great to see he has a good teacher, and safe, the bolt up on the rifle for the photograph.
Cheers
Richard

That's awesome.

What are you feeding those boys. My son wants to play hockey and it's clear I need to get him on the Bwana nutrition/exercise program!!

My guess is your boy could pick up the deer, give it a big bear hug and it would be gutted just fine!
